In the far future Earth has become a wasteland because of the war between Superpowers and Europa. A huge robot war causes the earths resources to become depleted, vegetation is scarce, and the people live in smaller settlements, and they are slowly dying from terrible diseases. Dr. Azuma (Akira Terao) is trying to develop a genetic treatment to help the people of the Earth, but mostly to treat his ill Wife Midori Azuma (Midori Azuma). Dr. Azuma’s son Tetsuya (Yûsuke Iseya) decides to join the military, and through unfortunate events dies in a war. His body is delivered to the lab that Dr. Azuma works at where he is trying to regenerate organs and limbs to defeat the rampant diseases as a odd lightning bold hits his laboratory causing the organs used to reattach themselves and become human once more called Neo-Sapiens. Dr. Azuma then realizes he has developed a way to bring the dead back to life and uses it on Tetsuya, bringing him back.
The Neo-Sapiens that live now want revenge for Dr. Azumas reanimation and the military that decided they needed to kill then, so they bring back the Europa robot army to destroy all of humanity. It is up to Tetsuya, who now calls himself Casshern to defeat the Neo-Sapiens for good and get his mother back Midori.
This movie was decent for the Japan budget, the beginning is very confusing but maybe if you have seen the first anime cartoon it might make a little more sense… But not much. The special effects are very good for 2004 and the story line is very average.
